ASSEMBLY
SETUP INSTRUCTIONS - SHIELDING AND DEFLECTORS
Bush Hog BH20 Series models as shipped from the factory, have all Shielding and Deflectors in place. Dealer
should inspect to make sure that all Safety Shielding and Deflectors are in place and fasteners are tight
Front and Rear Deflectors or Front and Rear Chains are a selection on BH25, BH26, BH27
Models. One typ
e of guard must be installed (and maintained in good repair) except for
agricultural purposes only in areas where persons, vehicles, livestock, or other property will
not be endangered by thrown objects and where such safety equipment would prevent the
mower's reasonable performance of its assigned agricultural task.
Deflectors: Front and Rear Deflectors (Standard Equipment) are recommended for the average user and will
provide protection from thrown objects with proper operation under normal conditions. Deflectors must be
maintained in good repair or replaced after no more than two inches of wear off lower edge.
SETUP INSTRUCTIONS - TAILWHEEL
Bush Hog BH20 Series models as shipped from the factory Tailwheel Frame and Tailwheel mounted to the
unit.
ADJUSTING FOR WORK
The cutter should be operated at the highest position which will give desired cutting results. This will help
prevent the blades from striking the ground, reducing blade wear and undue strain on the machine. For best
results under heavier cutting conditions, always tilt the cutter approximately 2 inches (51mm) lower in the front.
This tilt decreases horsepower requirements and increases potential ground speed. When fine shredding is
desired, adjust cutter deck level or slightly lower in the rear. This will keep the foliage under cutter until
thoroughly shredded. More power is required for shredding. Each cutter can be adjusted to several cutting
heights. The BH20 Series Models can be adjusted from 1-1/2" to 10-1/2” of cutting height.
To adjust, ra
ise cutter and block securely in position. Remove bolt from adjusting bracket shown in Figure
below. Adjust tailwheel frame up or down and secure in desired position.
